/BIOGRAPHY
Eu nasci no Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, e comecei minha carreira profissional na música como cantora, guitarrista, e compositora aos 16 anos. Nessa idade formei minha primeira banda chamada Kanela Pie, onde fiz minhas primeiras composições, cantava e tocava guitarra. Minha maior influência nessa época era a banda The Cranberries, e Linger foi a primeira música que toquei no violão.
Toquei baixo em algumas bandas do Rio de Janeiro por alguns anos antes de começar a minha carreira solo e gravar meu primeiro EP em 2003. Estar em um estúdio de gravação sempre me fascinou, então em 2009 decidi me dedicar exclusivamente à arte da gravação, mixagem, e mais tarde, à masterização. Desde então, quando montei meu home studio no RJ, venho gravando e mixando bandas. Pra conhecer mais sobre meu trabalho com musica, clique no menu acima em Music.
Em 2015 eu me mudei para São Francisco, na California, para fazer bacharelado em Sounds Arts na SAE Expression College, em Emeryville, e me formei com honras em 2018, além de ter sido eleita Valedictorian (história engraçada essa, eu nem sabia o que Valedictorian significava, e quando recebi o email da faculdade, achei que tinha algum problema! rs). Valedictorian seria o aluno eleito melhor de toda a faculdade, quem mais contribuiu com a instituição e que tirou as melhores notas). Como parte do currículo, fiz 6 meses de estágio no Fantasy Studios, em Berkeley, por onde ja passaram grandes artistas como Green Day, Santana, Counting Crows, Iggy Pop, Herbie Hancock, The Monkeys, David Bowie, U2, Aerosmith e muitos outros. Durante esse período, aprendi técnicas valiosas, convivi e pude trabalhar com excelentes engenheiros e conhecer as particularidades de cada um, em variados estilos.
Quando terminei meu estágio fui contratada como assistente por George Horn, e fui trabalhar no estúdio George Horn Mastering, onde pude aprimorar a arte da masterização com um dos maiores engenheiros que já conheci, e tive também a grande oportunidade de aprender a arte de prensar e masterizar para vinil, uma das especialidades de George.
Em meados de 2019 voltei ao Brasil e vim morar na cidade de São Paulo, e desde então venho participando de muitos projetos maravilhosos como a gravação do show ao vivo da Letrux no Teatro Ibirapuera, que também mixei, e pude, a convite da querida amiga e incrível engenheira Florencia Saravia-Akamine, participar do projeto Escuta as Minas do Spotify, gravando, mixando e masterizando alguns dos singles lançados. Hoje trabalho principalmente do estudio que montamos em casa, onde instalamos uma mesa Neve VR Legend de 48 canais que eu trouxe comigo da Califórnia, e lá é onde faço a maior parte das minhas gravações e mixagens híbridas (usando o summing da mesa Neve e também plugins).
I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and started my professional career in music as a singer, guitarist and composer at the age of 16. At that age I formed my first bang called Kanela Pie, where I made my first compositions, sang and played the guitar. My biggest influence at that time was The Cranberries, and Linger was the first song I played on the guitar.
I played bass in some bands when I was still livining in Rio de Janeiro for a few years before starting my solo career and recording my first EP in 2003. Being in a recording studio always amazed me, so in 2009 I decide to dedicate myself exclusively to the art of recording, mixing and later on, to mastering. In 2015 I moved to San Francisco, California, to get a bachelor's degree in Sounds Arts at SAE Expression College, in Emeryville, and I graduated with honors in 2018, in addition to being elected Valedictorian (funny story, I didn't even know what Valedictorian meant, and when I got the email from the school, I thought there was some kind of problem! Valedictorian is a student who is elected the best of the entire college, who contributed the most to the institution and who got the best grades amongst all graduates). As part of the curriculum, I did 6 months of internship at Fantasy Studios, in Berkeley, where great artists such as Green Day, Santana, Counting Crows, Iggy Pop, Herbie Hancock, The Monkeys, David Bowie, U2, Aerosmith and many others have recorded. During this time, I learned valuable techniques, got to shadow, and was able to work with excellent engineers, learning about their methods, throughout different music styles.
When I finished my internship, I was hired as an assistant by George Horn, and I worked at George Horn Mastering Studio, where I could dive deep into the art of mastering with one of the greatest engineers I have ever met. That also gave me an amazing opportunity to learn the art of press and master for vinyl, one of George's specialties.
In 2019 I returned to Brazil and came to live in the city of São Paulo, and since then, I have been participating in many wonderful projects such as the recording of Letrux's live concert at Teatro Ibirapuera, which I also mixed, and could, invited by of my dearest friends and extraordinary engineer, Florencia Saravia-Akamine, participate in the Escuta as Minas project o from Spotify, recording, mixing and mastering some of the released singles. Today I work mainly from my Home Studio, where we installed a Neve VR Legend vintage console with 48 channels that I brought with me from California, and it's where nowadays I do most of my recordings and hybrid mixes (going through the Neve console in addition to using plugins in Pro Tools).
